About Master Paul Chay 6th Dan Black Belt

Master Paul Chay has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He worked at Abbott Laboratories for 8 years in various engineering capacities, the most recent work involving the manufacture of bulk pharmaceuticals.

Master Chay was trained under Grand Master M. J. Chay from the age of 9 years and has been training with other master instructors for over 30 years. During a work assignment in Virginia, Master Chay qualified for the national championships in forms and competed in Anaheim, CA in 1987. He assisted with the opening of Chay’s Tae Kwon Do and has been teaching for over 26 years. He has been the master instructor for Chay’s Tae Kwon Do since Grandmaster’s retirement.

Master Chay has also broadened his self-defense skills by becoming a certified instructor in Krav Maga which is the official self-defense system taught to the Israeli defense forces. This system has been adapted for civilian use and is an excellent program for practical, easy to learn self-defense.

Andy Harron,
Certified Instructor

Andy Harron is one of the newest instructors in Krav Maga at Chay's Tae Kwon Do and Krav Maga.  He has been studying Krav Maga for more than three years and finds it an excellent way to stay in shape and also excercise the mind.  He was drawn to Krav Maga by its philosophy of self defense techniques built off of natural responses, which provides maximum effectivness with minimum training.  Having a young family and a busy medical practice, he was also drawn to Chay's by the class schedule which allows many opportunities to train each week.  He looks forward to learning and teaching Krav Maga for many years to come.

Bryan Schmidt,
